Playa del Carmen and Cozumel, Mexico

Playa del Carmen, located on the beach just a 45-minute drive south of Cancún.

Trek though jungles to Mayan ruins and relax on white-sand beaches. Get an authentic taste of Mexico with an adventure that combines the mystery of the ancient ruins with the crystalline waters of the Caribbean. Shop for treasures along cobblestoned streets and get to know the locals from communities where life sometimes moves at a slower pace.

There is snorkelling and diving available, and long stretches of sandy beaches which are perfect for walking and relaxing after a hectic day.

Visit some ruins, Tulúm is just a 45-minute drive south of Playa. Aside from its unusual late Mayan architecture, it offers possibly the most appealing setting for any ruins, as it is located on a palm-fringed, white-sand beach, where you can even go for a swim within the ancient walls.

Just off the coast is the island of Cozumel, renowned for its world-class diving. Take the ferry from Playa del Carmen (30 to 75 minutes depending on the boat) across the turquoise waters and explore the towns and the reefs of the island.

The Galapagos Islands

The Galapagos Islands are a wild life enthusiast’s dream, made up of an archipelago of volcanic islands at the Equator, in the Pacific Ocean, west of Ecuador. Whether it’s the gentle and curious demeanor of a young sea lion or the dramatic wing flapping and whistle of a blue footed boobie, you’re sure to be in awe of the close contact experienced on the islands.

The islands themselves are diverse from the red sand beach of Baltra to the Prickly Pear cactus dotted shores of Santa Fe. Islands like Santiago with its striking giant lava formations and Bartolome with it’s red and black volcanic landscape make you feel as if you’re on another planet.

It’s one of those trips that make you feel privileged just having experienced it.
